Rankings evaluate the quality of a stock and thus can help you selecting stocks. Often lists of promising stocks are created based on rankings. Although helpful, usual rankings have two disadvantages in common.
Rankings are based on metrics, which in turn are based on market and company data. Market data like stock quotes are outdated very fast. Hence, metrics like price-earnings ratio or the dividend yield are most probably not up-to-date. The problem of outdated data is not restricted to quotes, but to aggregated analyst estimates updated weekly for highly covered stocks and company data updated quarterly.
Rankings are based on a certain method of someone but you. That’s bad, because if you have an investment strategy you also have criteria which should be part of the rating. If you prefer low volatile stocks with high dividends you will consider other stocks than an investor preferring high growth stocks with low or no dividends at all.
For this reason, many investors maintain their own rankings in a spreadsheet like Excel.
Rankings in DividendStocks.Cash: up-to-date and made by you
To remedy this situation, DividendStocks.Cash introduced rankings to modify on your behalf.
The ranking gets applied to all stocks in the screener. This allows you to see immediately which stocks match your criteria the most. Additionally, all data gets updated regularly, e.g. stock quotes each hour. Thus, the ranking is never outdated.
To better evaluate the ranking’s result, a detailed analysis for each stock exists:
If the ranking’s overall result does not suit your needs, you can update the ranking’s criteria until if fits. As full member you can add and update as many rankings as you wish and export the ranking’s result to Excel.
